Brief
Matthew Paul Jinks is a British potter specialising in Japanese-style black clay ceramics. He had been teaching private 1-2-1 classes in Brighton and wanted to expand into a formal pottery school—Jinks Pottery—by attracting local customers and securing equipment to scale classes.
Approach
Launched a targeted crowdfunding campaign to fund additional wheels and studio infrastructure. Refined and extended Matthew’s existing brand identity (fonts, logo treatment), created social content, including for paid Meta campaigns, and produced crowdfunder and promotional assets offering taster sessions and special offers. Provided coaching and marketing strategy (including routes to market, print marketing, e-commerce planning) to ensure ongoing growth of the pottery school alongside revenue diversification.
Outcome
Crowdfunder raised sufficient funds to enable the purchase of equipment and expand class capacity. Taster-session promotions drove strong bookings and social media following, securing students for future 6-week classes and creating a sustainable longer-term pipeline. Continued coaching and trade/e-commerce planning positioned Jinks Pottery for long‑term growth as a thriving local pottery school, balanced by increased e-commerce and trade fair sales.
